NORFOLK FLOWER FARM

Cornflowers galore in our Norfolk Cutting Garden.

Three years ago we decided to create a cutting garden on a little piece of land at Athena’s house in Norfolk.  Using the same no-dig organic methods we employ in Italy it has spread all over the garden filling every available space with every possible flower from Achillea to Zinnea!  During the growing season we pick once or twice a week and haul our bounty back to London to use in all our weddings, events and in our shop in Mare Street Market.

DOWN ON THE FLOWER FARM

Situated outside the delightful village of Great Massingham, our Norfolk cutting garden came to life with the help of some very talented gardeners who have supported us every step of the way, teaching us how to grow all the flowers we love to use in our designs. Nestled in a low valley (yes Norfolk does have some hills!), the garden benefits from rich soil, and a mild micro-climate.

BUCKETS FULL OF BEAUTIFUL HOME-GROWN FLOWERS

Throughout the year we regularly ferry flowers and foliage from our Norfolk flower farm to our shop and studio in Hackney, East London, to create gorgeous bouquets or be turned into beautiful creations for weddings and events.

Starting with tulips, allium, fritillaria, bluebells, aconites and Solomon’s seal in April and the beginning of May, June brings all the boys to the yard, with sweet peas, phlox, snapdragons, lupins, foxgloves, flag iris, sweet rocket and honesty competing for best in show.

July and August are filled with zinnias, cosmos, Mexican sunflowers, malope, and, of course, Irish poets. And there are dahlias in all their crazy shapes: dinner plates, pompoms, water lily, cactus, and collarette.
